Chandigarh University is a private university and is accreditted A+ Grade by NAAC and NBA. It is UGC, AICTE, BCI, NCHMCT, PCI, NCTE, COA, AIU, and CSI recognised too. CU is also a member of ICAR, AUAP, IAU, ACU, IEEE, ASME, IUCEE, and ACS.
The university ranked among the top 2% out of the 28,500 institutions globally by the QS World University Rankings 2026, CU has made a jump of 125 places and now stands at the global rank of 575.
Moving up twenty nine spots from last year, it is now at rank 120 among Asian institutions. This has placed it within the top 2% of higher educational institutions (HEIs) in Asia.

In 2019, CU became the youngest university in the country to be assessed and accredited by NAAC and granted an A+ grade in the first cycle itself. Chandigarh University had also become the only state-private university of Punjab to be accredited by NAAC. It is the Only University in Punjab and the region to get accredited by NBA for its Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Communications, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Aerospace Engineering & MBA programs.
Additionally, the university offers ABET-accredited programmes. It is the first Private University in India to have the highest number of engineering programmes accredited by ABET.
The university has achieved an ASSOCHAM GEM 4 rating in Green Building and Sustainability Certification. The university has ranked 7 among the top 10 private institutions in India in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (An Initiative of the Ministry of Education).
