Bihar Board Exam Pattern 2026 The exam pattern of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) -Class 10 (Matric) and Class 12 or Intermediate is well defined and clear for all students. Knowing the pattern helps students prepare accordingly and be more relaxed at the time of examination.

Class 10 (Matric) Exam Pattern

Every subject has 100 marks in which theory and internal assessment is included.

Note: Most of these test have a combination of Objective(MCQ) and Descriptive questions.

There are multiple choice questions in the paper and 50% of it is an OMR sheet which is answered on a separate Optical Mark Recognition Sheet.

In subjects like Science and Social Science, there are separate sections for short and long descriptive answers.

Practical Exams for Science Stream and other optional subjects are held separately and have a weightage of 20–30 marks.

Passing marks: At least 33% in each subject.

Class 12 (Intermediate) Exam Pattern

BSEB organises Class 12 exams for three streams-- Science, Commerce and Arts.

Theory Exam:

For practical-‐based subjects, the total marks per subject is 100 (where 70 marks for theory and 30 for practical).

The theory paper is half objective types questions.

The questions that are still left are of the type short and long answer.

Practical Exam:

Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology Home Science and Music will have practical examination of 30 marks each in schools.

Passing Criteria:

The minimum pass mark for theory is 30 per cent while it is 40 for practical (if applicable).
